Jose Villegas, Trinidad Gomez, Yiramis Barranco, and 11-Month-Old Baby Hospitalized after Jefferson County Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 73

Jefferson County, Texas (October 6, 2019) – Four people including an 11-year-old boy was injured in a multi-vehicle crash Saturday morning in Jefferson County, according to a local news source.

The crash happened around 10:00 a.m. October 5, on Highway 73 near the Country Club.

DPS said a black Ford Ranger pickup truck was heading westbound on the highway when it crossed the center median and entered the eastbound lanes where it collided with a white Ford pickup truck.

The impact caused the white Ford pickup truck to hit a Nissan.

The white Ford pickup then rolled severally.

The driver of the white Ford pickup truck, 44-year-old Jose Villegas of Mexico, and his passenger, Trinidad Gomez, 35, were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.

Villegas and Gomez were taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. 

The Nissan driver, Yiramis Barranco, 29, of Houston, and her 11-month-old child, were taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, with non-life threatening injuries.

The black Ford Ranger, 31-year-old Adam Hunt of Port Arthur, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
