Juan Jose Hernandez Jr., Killed in Jefferson County Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 10

Jefferson County, Texas (October 1, 2020) – According to officials, a man was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run crash in Jefferson County, six miles west of Beaumont.

The deadly accident was reported around 9:45 p.m., September 29, on Interstate 10, near mile marker 839.

According to a preliminary investigation, 41-year-old Juan Jose Hernandez Jr., of Port Neches, was walking eastbound on the shoulder of the freeway when he was struck by a car.

The car fled the scene after the accident.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The authorities are looking for the hit-and-run driver.

The DPS is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call DPS Communications anytime at 936-699-7340.
