Lubbock, Texas (October 1, 2021) – According to the police, four people were seriously injured Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash in South Lubbock.

The accident happened on September 29, at the intersection of Slide Road and the South Loop 289 westbound access road.

Police said two motorcycles were traveling northbound in the 6200 block of Slide Road while a car was traveling westbound in the 5100 block of the South Loop access road. The three vehicles then collided at the intersection.

The car driver, Kailee Brewer, 24, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. One of the motorcyclists, Jason Sharpe, 36, and the other motorcyclist, Solomon Gonzalez, 45, and the passenger, Angelica Mendoza, 41, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries.
