Kolson Jacobs and Lorin Miller ID’d as 2 People Killed in Yoakum Crash on State Highway 111

Yoakum, Texas (October 16, 2022) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the two people who were killed Saturday morning in a head-on collision east of Yoakum.

Kolson Brock Jacobs, 19, of Yoakum, and Lorin Gayle Miller, 18, of Shiner, died in the crash that happened at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15 on State Highway 111.

DP said Jacobs was driving a 2018 Ford F-350 westbound on State Highway 111 when he failed to maintain his lane and drifted into the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by Connor Jacobs Ratcliff, 18, of Yoakum.

Both vehicles eventually collided head-on. Due to the impact of the crash, the Ford spun 360 degrees and came to rest in the east side of the road in a ditch, while the Silverado came to rest in the shoulder of the eastbound lane facing northeast.

Jacobs was declared dead at the scene at 1:16 p.m. His passenger, Miller, was taken to Yoakum Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:00 p.m.

Ratcliff was airlifted to St. David’s Medical Center in Austin where he was in stable but critical condition Saturday.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
