Tommy Chalk and Mikayah Griggs Injured in Corsicana Four-Vehicle Crash on Interstate Highway 45 near Roane Road

Corsicana, Texas (May 9, 2020) – Two people were injured Thursday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash in Corsicana, according to troopers.

The crash occurred around 12:45 p.m. May 7, on Interstate Highway 45, north of Roane Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, a black 2008 Pontiac Vibe was traveling southbound in the right lane of the interstate at a reduced speed because of a flat tire. A white 2000 International truck tractor towing a gray transport semi-trailer was traveling behind the Pontiac.

A white 2016 Peterbilt truck tractor towing an orange 2000 Hyundai semi-trailer was heading southbound in the center lane behind the white 2000 International truck tractor. A grey Ford F-250 towing a Centurion Avalanche boat was also heading southbound in the left lane next to the 2016 Peterbilt truck tractor.

The driver of the white 2000 International truck tractor failed to control his speed and rear-ended the Pontiac. The impact caused the white 2000 International truck tractor to jack-knife toward the right shoulder. The 2016 Peterbilt truck tractor then hit the left rear of the transport semi-trailer, causing it to hit the Ford, pushing it into the retaining wall.

The Ford was pinned between the Peterbilt truck tractor and the retaining wall.

The Pontiac driver, Tommy Chalk, 21, and the passenger, Mikayah Griggs, 19, both from Dallas, were taken to Navarro Regional Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the International truck tractor, Eddy Rubio, 59, of Houston, and the Peterbilt driver, Tahl Cole, 50, of Fresno, were uninjured in the crash.

The Ford driver, Henry Asprey, 23, and passenger, 23-year-old Payton Jackson, both of Lubbock, were also uninjured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
