Maria Socorro Lopez Killed in Robstown Two-Vehicle Crash at FM 24 and CR 44

Robstown, Texas (August 6, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, a woman was killed, and several other people were injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash, just six miles from Robstown.

The fatal crash happened around 5:49 p.m., August 4, at the intersection of FM 24 and County Road 44.

DPS said a Chevy Malibu occupied by three people was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection when it failed to yield the right of way to a Ford F-150 that was also occupied by three people.

The Ford then struck the driver’s side door of the Malibu.

Maria Socorro Lopez, 42, of Robstown, was in the Malibu at the time of the crash and was taken to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where she later died.

The front right seat male passenger of the Malibu was taken to Northwest Hospital in Calallen, where he was treated and released. The back left female passenger was taken to Spohn Shoreline Hospital for treatment.

The driver and two passengers of the Ford were treated and released at the scene.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
