Murphy Maynard ID’d as Man Killed in Randall County Crash on FM 1541

Randall County, Texas (February 15, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who died in a hit-and-run crash early Tuesday morning in Randall County as Murphy Maynard, 27, of Amarillo.

The deadly crash happened at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, on FM 1541, about a half-mile south of Amarillo.

DPS said Maynard was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Maynard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call the DPS office at 806-277-1711 or the Amarillo Crime Stoppers Tip line at 806-374-4400.
