Michael Collis and Heather Collis Injured in Victoria Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 59

Victoria, Texas (December 11, 2020) – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Victoria, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m., December 10, on U.S. 59 near the Jackson County line.

DPS said John Bush, 54, of Inez, was driving a F-250 pickup truck northbound before entering the crossover to go southbound. As he was turning onto the highway from the crossover, the pickup was rear-ended by a 2019 Nissan SUV driven by Heather Collis, 21, of Edna.

After the impact, the truck careened into a ditch on the westbound side while the Nissan came to rest on the highway.

Michael Collis, 17, of Edna, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with non-life-threatening injuries.

Heather and her infant who was in the backseat, sustained minor injuries.

The crash closed the highway for about 40 minutes.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

We hope Michael Collis and Heather Collis recover quickly.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons for driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
