Midlothian City Council Member Art Pierard Killed in Waxahachie Crash on North Interstate 35E near South U.S. Highway 77

Waxahachie, Texas (February 21, 2020) – A Midlothian City Council member was fatally struck by an 18-wheeler Wednesday night in Waxahachie, according to officials.

The crash was reported at about 10:30 p.m. February 19, on North Interstate 35E near South U.S. Highway 77.

Police said Art Pierard’s Ford Mustang got stuck in the mud near a northbound exit, and Pierard got out of the car.

As Pierard was standing near his car, he was hit by an 18-wheeler that had left the roadway.

Pierard was killed in the crash. He had been a member of the city council since 2018.

No other information regarding the crash was available.

An investigation is underway.
