Police Officer Injured in West El Paso Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 10

El Paso, Texas (May 23, 2020) – A police officer was injured Friday night in a wrong-way crash in west El Paso, according to authorities.

The crash was reported just after 11:00 p.m. May 22, on Interstate 10.

Authorities said a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the freeway when it crashed into a marked EPPD unit.

The officer was not seriously injured and went to the hospital on his own to be checked out as a precaution.

The wrong-way driver refused medical treatment. He was arrested and charged with DWI.

The crash closed the westbound lanes at Redd Road. The eastbound lanes were diverted off at Artcraft Road.

The crash remains under investigation.
