Paul Lipp Killed, Harold Frey Injured in Decatur Crash on FM 51 near CR 2224

Decatur, Texas (May 28, 2019) – One person was killed and another seriously hurt in a crash involving three vehicles near Decatur Saturday afternoon, according to the DPS.
The wreck took place shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, on FM 51 near County Road 2224.
According to the report, 61-year-old Harold Frey of Paradise was operating a 2001 Ford F-350 south on FM 51 when he lost control after one of the vehicle’s tires had a blowout. The Ford swerved into the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound 2005 Ford F-150 driven by Paul Lipp, 69, of Decatur.
DPS said Lipp died at the site of the collision.
Frey was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment of serious injuries.
A 2003 GMC Yukon that was traveling northbound was hit by the debris from the crash but no one in that vehicle was hurt.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
