Rev. Carl Williamson Hospitalized after Cleveland Crash on State Highway 321 near CR 2274 (Rural Shade Road)

Cleveland, Texas (June 3, 2022) – Rev. Carl Williamson was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash involving an 18-wheeler in the Cleveland area, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The major-injury accident happened at about 3:15 p.m. on June 1 on State Highway 321 near CR 2274 (Rural Shade Road).

DPS said Williamson was driving northbound on State Highway 321 when he drifted into the opposite lane to pass an 18-wheeler.

Williamson reportedly swerved in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision but ended up hitting the back of another northbound vehicle that was in front of the 18-wheeler. After the impact, Williamson’s vehicle rolled multiple times and stopped upright in a ditch.

Williamson sustained serious injuries and was transported to Kingwood Hospital, where he was admitted to ICU. Authorities said he may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
