Richard Simmons Killed in Abilene Bicycle Accident on Highway 80 near Bandera Park Street

Abilene, Texas (June 4, 2023) – A 28-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning in a bicycle accident in Abilene, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 5:12 a.m., June 3, on E. Highway 80 near Bandera Park Street.

Police said Richard Charles Simmons from Abilene was riding a bicycle westbound when he was struck by a westbound box truck.

Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
