Robert Anthony Ybarbo Killed, James Keith Sheffield and Anthony Lyn Threadgill Injured in Cuero Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 87

Cuero, Texas (June 13, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash, south of Cuero, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash occurred at about 11:25 a.m., June 12, on U.S. 87.

DPS said Anthony Lyn Threadgill, 43, of Victoria, was driving a 2007 Chrysler 300 when it struck a semi-trailer as it came to a stop before making a right turn into a mechanic shop.

The truck was in the proper lane and had his turn signal on.

Robert Anthony Ybarbo, 21, of Victoria, who was the front-seat passenger in the Chrysler, was pronounced dead at the scene.

James Keith Sheffield, 38, of Victoria, who was also a passenger in the Chrysler, was airlifted to San Antonio Medical Center in serious condition.

Threadgill was taken to Citizens Medical Center in stable condition.

The truck driver, Joel Morin, of Orange Grove, was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
