Russel Mullican Killed in Car Crash on I-40 in Wheeler County

Russel Mullican Killed in Wheeler County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 40

Wheeler County, Texas (May 18, 2023) – One person was killed yesterday in a two-vehicle crash in Wheeler County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 11:55 p.m., May 17, on Interstate 40.

DPS said a Dodge pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer was traveling eastbound on the interstate while a semi-trailer was legally parked on the improved shoulders.

The Dodge driver, 59-year-old Russel Mullican, failed to drive in a single lane, drove onto the shoulder, and hit the left rear part of the semi-trailer.

Mullican was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

DPS is investigating the crash.
