Samantha Anderson Killed, Ricky Ekdahl and David Bockmon Injured in Lubbock County Two-Vehicle Crash on CR 7700 near CR 2110

Lubbock County, Texas (November 23, 2023) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed and two others were injured last Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Lubbock County.

The fatal crash happened around 7:30 p.m., November 16, on County Road 7700, east of County Road 2110.

DPS said Ricky Ekdahl, 48, was driving a 2018 Subaru BRZ eastbound while David Bockmon, 45, was driving a 1997 Honda Civic westbound.

Ekdahl was traveling slightly off the roadway into some loose dirt. He took evasive action in an attempt to bring the vehicle back onto the road and he collided with collided with Bockmon’s vehicle.

Bockmon and a passenger, Samantha Anderson, 40, were transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries where Anderson later died. They were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Ekdahl was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries.

The weather conditions were clear and the road was dry.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
