Sofia Hernandez Perez Killed in Weslaco Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 1015

Weslaco, Texas (August 11, 2022) – According to the Texas DPS, one person was killed, and two others were injured Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash north of Weslaco.

The fatal crash happened around 12:36 p.m., August 10, on FM 1015 north of Mile 11.

DPS said a green Chrysler Town and Country was turning onto FM 1015 from a private road when it was struck by a southbound blue Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The Chrysler driver, 68-year-old Sofia Hernandez Perez, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver and the passenger of the Chrysler were airlifted to Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
