Susan Herke Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Highway 6; Edward Turner Arrested

Houston, Texas (March 6, 2022) – A 30-year-old woman was killed last month in a hit-and-run accident in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 8:00 p.m., in the 2200 block of Texas Highway 6.

Police said Susan Herke was crossing the highway when she was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 32-year-old Edward Turner.

Turner fled the scene after the accident.

Herke was taken to Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A couple saw Turner and followed him. They provided the authorities with the license plate number of the vehicle and told them that the Silverado’s headlights were off as Herke tried to cross the street.

About 90 minutes later, Turner drove past the scene and an officer spotted him. Police spent about a minute trying to pull him over, and he eventually stopped behind a nearby business where officers detained him. He wasn’t immediately charged but was booked into the Harris County Jail on a warrant for burglary of habitation from Fort Bend County for an incident in September 2020.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
