Thomas Wingo, Brenda Wingo, Aye They and Two Children Injured in Dumas Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 287
Dumas, Texas (August 7, 2020) – Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, just north of Dumas, according to DPS.
The crash happened around 2:15 p.m., August 4, on US Highway 287.
DPS said 35-year-old Mu Tin of Cactus, was driving a 2016 Honda Pilot northbound on the highway when the pickup ahead of them slowed down to make a left turn.
Tin veered into the center median to avoid rear-ending the pickup and the Honda skid through the crossover into the southbound lanes where it was struck by a 2016 Toyota Sienna.
The Sienna driver, 72-year-old Thomas Wingo of Sunray, and his passenger, 69-year-old Brenda Wingo, also of Sunray, were taken to Memorial Hospital in Dumas with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tin was uninjured in the crash. Four passengers, all from Cactus, were in the Honda at the time of the crash. A female passenger, 35-year-old Aye They, was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries.
A 6-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo with serious injuries. A 5-year-old female was also airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.
A 17-year-old male passenger, Saykri ya, was uninjured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
