Lubbock, Texas (February 17, 2020) – One person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Lubbock, according to the police.

The crash occurred just before 3:00 a.m. February 16, in the 4400 block of Interstate 27 at Regis Street.

Police said 21-year-old Valerie Carranco was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on I-27 when she went off the roadway and struck a guardrail. Another passing motorist stopped to check on Carranco and call 911.

As Carranco was gathering her belongings, a Ford F350 that was traveling northbound in the right-hand lane of I-27 struck Carranco and her vehicle.

The force of the impact caused the Corolla to hit the vehicle that had stopped to check on Carranco.

Carranco was taken to UMC with serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

An investigation is ongoing.

We wish Valerie Carranco a quick recovery.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
