Walter Black III Killed in Andrews County Pedestrian Accident on U.S. Highway 385

Andrews County, Texas (May 14, 2021) – According to the DPS, a Lubbock man was killed in a pedestrian accident Wednesday night in Andrews County.

The deadly accident happened just before 11:00 p.m., May 12, on U.S. Highway 385, 9 miles north of Andrews.

DPS said John T. Whitt, 78, of Monahans, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck southbound on the highway when he struck Walter H. Black III, 56, of Lubbock, who was in the roadway.

Black was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
