William Motycka Critically Injured in Teague Two-Vehicle Crash on US 84 near CR 601

Teague, Texas – A driver was critically injured last month after he was involved in a head-on collision with a police officer northeast of Teague, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 4:45 a.m., January 20, on US 84 near CR 601.

Authorities said City of Teague Municipal Police Officer Demarcus Gerod Jones was traveling eastbound in a department patrol unit while a Honda CRV was traveling westbound.

Jones came up behind a slower moving vehicle and began to pass in a no-passing zone and due to insufficient clearance, he collided head-on with the Honda.

The Honda driver, William Jason Motycka, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

Jones was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, which is ongoing.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
