Woman Killed, 3 Injured in 2-Vehicle Crash at FM 56 and FM 289 in Southmayd

Elderly Woman Killed, Three Hospitalized after Southmayd Crash at FM 56 and FM 289

Southmayd, Texas (September 9, 2022) – An elderly woman was killed and three other people were injured in a Thursday car crash at a Southmayd intersection, according to the Southmayd Police Department.

The deadly crash took place at the intersection of FM 56 and FM 289 on Thursday, September 8.

Southmayd police said the elderly woman was driving a blue vehicle eastbound towards Sherman when she collided with a white truck that was traveling westbound.

The elderly woman driving the blue vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Three occupants of the white truck were taken to nearby hospitals with chest pain.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
