Navasota, Texas (January 17, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified one of the two people who died last week on Tuesday following a three-car accident in Navasota as David Duggan, 63, of Buda.

The deadly crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, on Highway 90 near CR 409.

DPS said Duggan was driving a 2001 Ford F-250 northbound on Highway 90 when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the opposite lane and rear-ended with a southbound 2016 Toyota Tacoma.

The Ford then collided head-on with a 2004 Chevrolet that was also heading southbound.

Duggan and the driver of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old boy from Madisonville, were both killed in the crash.

The driver of the Toyota did not suffer any injuries.

DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
