Gilbert Hernandez Cortinas Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on Old Bastrop Highway near ABIA

Austin, Texas (July 31, 2020) – The man who was killed in a pedestrian accident Friday night in East Austin has been identified as Gilbert Hernandez Cortinas, 69, according to police.

The deadly accident happened just after 11:30 p.m., July 24, in the 1000 block of Old Bastrop Highway.

Police said a gray 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling northbound on the highway when it struck Cortinas on the roadway.

Cortinas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sienna driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
