Dennis Roberts Killed in Waco Pedestrian Accident on Robinson Drive near Madison Drive; Orlon Simpson Arrested

Waco, Texas (August 31, 2021) – A man was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run crash in Waco, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 8:45 p.m., August 28, on Robinson Drive near Madison Drive.

Police said Dennis Roberts, 57, was heading southbound in his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by several cars.

Witnesses said a dark grey Toyota Camry hit Roberts and drove off, dragging his wheelchair along with it. The wheelchair was found near the intersection of Primrose and S. 27th Street.

The driver of the second vehicle stayed at the scene after the accident.

Roberts was pinned underneath one of the cars taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest, where he later died.

The Camry driver, 41-year-old Orlon Simpson, of Marlin, was arrested on August 30, and was taken into custody. He was being held at the McLennan County Jail and has been charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid, a second-degree felony.

The police are investigating the crash.
