Former TCU Standout and NFL Player Jeff Gladney ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Dallas Car Crash on Woodall Rogers Freeway at Allen Street

Dallas, Texas (May 31, 2022) – Former Texas Christian University football star and NFL player Jeff Gladney was among two victims who died in a car crash in Downtown Dallas, authorities said.

The deadly crash occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on May 30 in the westbound services lanes of Woodall Rogers Freeway at Allen Street.

Authorities said Gladney’s SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound service lanes of the freeway when it clipped a Lexus SUV from behind.

Gladney’s SUV lost control and crashed into the pier beam of the freeway. It then burst into flames.

Gladney was killed in the crash. His girlfriend, Mercedes Palacios, 26, was also killed in the crash.

Two people in the second vehicle were not injured.

No further details about the collision were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
