Gilford Leon Nugent III Killed in Harrison County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 80

Harrison County, Texas (October 26, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Harrison County, just east of Marshall, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:30 p.m., October 25, on U.S. Highway 80.

DPS said Gilford Leon Nugent III, 40, of Marshall, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on the highway when he crossed over the center stripe in a curve and struck an eastbound 2006 Chevrolet Silverado towing a travel trailer.

Nugent was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver and his passenger were taken to a Marshall hospital in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
