Katherine Ann Petty ID’d as Woman Killed in Cherokee County Pedestrian Accident on U.S. 69 near Rusk

Cherokee County, Texas (July 8, 2019) – Katherine Ann Petty, 60, of Garland, has been identified as the woman who was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday afternoon while she was chasing a dog down the road in Cherokee County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly pedestrian accident happened at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday, July 7 on U.S. 69, just north of Rusk.

The DPS said a semi driven by Rogelio Armando Castillo, 41, of Lufkin, was heading northbound in the inside lane of U.S. 69 when Petty ran into traffic chasing after a dog. The semi hit Petty.

Petty was transported to a Tyler hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

No other details were immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
