Mercedes Elaine Fulton Killed, Jacob Herring Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on SH 67 in Stephens County

Mercedes Elaine Fulton Killed and Jacob Herring Injured in Stephens County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 67

Stephens County, Texas (May 17, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured Friday afternoon in a wrong-way crash in Stephens County, three miles north of Breckenridge, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash took place at about 4:30 p.m. May 15, on SH 67.

DPS said Mercedes Elaine Fulton, 26, of Iowa Park, was driving northbound in the southbound lane of the highway while Jacob Herring, 37, of Breckenridge, was driving a pickup truck southbound.

Herring swerved into the northbound lane to avoid Fulton’s car, but Fulton veered back into her lane and both vehicles collided head-on.

Fulton was declared dead at the scene.

Herring was taken to Breckenridge Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
