Nicolas Torres Killed in Brownsville Bicycle Accident on Padre Island Highway
Brownsville, Texas (March 12, 2019) – A bicyclist was killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run accident on a Brownsville highway, according to the police.
The fatal accident occurred at about 10:40 a.m. March 11, in the 5700 block of Padre Island Highway.
Police said Nicolas Garza Torres, 79, was hit by a white SUV on the highway.
Torres was killed in the crash.
The SUV driver fled the scene after the accident.
Juan Luis Rodriguez, 34, of Brownsville was later arrested and charged with accident involving death and criminally negligent homicide.
He was arraigned in court Tuesday morning and received $30,000 in bail.
The police are investigating the crash.
