Rachelle Velin Covey ID’d as Woman Killed in North Austin Pedestrian Accident on 51st Street

Austin, Texas (November 22, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a pedestrian accident last week in North Austin has been identified as Rachelle Velin Covey, 48, according to the police.

The accident happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, in the 1100 block of East 51st Street.

Police said Covey was attempting to cross five lanes of traffic in an area that is dimly lit when she was hit by an eastbound white Jeep Wrangler, which was traveling in the inside lane.

Covey was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, where she later died.

The Jeep driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
