Rider and Horse Struck, Killed by Vehicle on FM 148 in Scurry

Horse Rider Killed in Scurry Pedestrian Accident on FM 148 near FM 1390

Scurry, Texas (May 18, 2020) – A horse and a rider were struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night in Scurry, according to the DPS.

The accident was reported around 9:21 p.m. May 17, in the 7000 block of FM 148, just southeast of FM 1390.

According to a preliminary investigation, a GMC Acadia was heading northbound while two horses and their riders were heading southbound.

The Acadia driver swerved to avoid the first horse but hit the second horse.

The horse and the rider died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
