Steven Anderson Killed, Cheryl Johnson Injured in Montague County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 82

Montague County, Texas (October 4, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Montague County, according to the DPS.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. October 2, on US 82 between Nocona and St. Jo.

DPS said Steven Anderson, 50, of Denton, had parked his car on the right shoulder of the highway when Cheryl Johnson of St. Jo, drove onto the improved shoulder and rear-ended Anderson’s vehicle.

The impact pushed Anderson’s vehicle into a ditch while Johnson’s vehicle came to a rest in the roadway and then caught fire and completely burned.

Johnson was able to exit the vehicle in time. He was taken to Nocona hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anderson was airlifted to Medical City Denton where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
