Steven Lynn Chambless Killed in Van Zandt County Pedestrian Accident on State Highway 198

Van Zandt County, Texas (November 30, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed Saturday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Van Zandt County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 7:30 p.m., November 28, on SH 198, southwest of Canton city.

According to a preliminary investigation, a vehicle was heading northbound on the highway when it hit Steven Lynn Chambless, 58, of Canton, who was in the roadway.

The vehicle fled the scene after the accident.

Chambless was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was available.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
