Steven Mounger Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 377 in Whitesboro

Steven Mounger Among 2 Killed in Whitesboro Crash on U.S. 377 near Chisum Trail Road

Grayson County, Texas (June 10, 2022) – Steven James Mounger, 39, of Anna, was among two people who died following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon near Whitesboro in Grayson County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly wreck happened at around 12:47 p.m. Thursday, June 9, on U.S. 377, just north of Chisum Trail Road.

DPS said Reginaldo Rogelio Romo, 39, of Gainesville, was driving southbound on U.S. 377 when he allowed his car to cross into the northbound lane.

Romo’s car then collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by Mounger.

Mounger and Romo were declared dead at the scene at 12:52 p.m.

A passenger in Mounger’s car was airlifted to Medical City Denton in critical condition.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

DPS is investigating the accident.
