Construction Worker Hit, Killed by Vehicle at Fuqua Street and Beamer Road in Houston

Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident at Fuqua Street and Beamer Road

Houston, Texas (May 18, 2022) – A construction worker died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Houston, Houston Police Department said.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Fuqua Street and Beamer Road.

According to the police,

A contract worker was placing safety cones around his trailer to close an eastbound lane of traffic. A Honda Odyssey van changed lanes to avoid the blockage and unexpectedly struck the worker.

Witnesses told the authorities the victim was likely frightened by the vehicle and jumped into the roadway

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The involved driver was not injured and stopped at the scene. Alcohol or drugs was not considered a factor in the crash.

No additional information was available.

The police are investigating the crash.
