Katey Kirkland Killed and Kevin Kirkland Injured in White Settlement Crash on Jason Court; Peggy Cox and Donald Gruber Arrested

White Settlement, Texas (September 11, 2022) – A teen girl was killed, and his father was injured early last month after a vehicle crashed into their home in White Settlement, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened on August 7, at a home on Jason Court, a neighborhood near West Loop 820 and Interstate 30.

Police said Donald Gruber, 63, was driving a pickup truck when he lost control, entered a backyard, and then crashed through multiple bedrooms of a home.

Katey Kirkland was in the home and was killed in the crash. Her father, Boswell High School teacher Kevin Kirkland, was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Gruber was arrested and charged with intoxication, manslaughter and intoxication assault.

69-year-old Peggy Cox was a passenger in the pickup truck, and she admitted she too had been drinking. She was arrested on Thursday, September 8, and is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault. Officers said she contributed to the crash by grabbing the steering wheel before the pickup struck the home.  

The police are investigating the crash.
