Garza County, Texas (April 24, 2022) – Authorities have identified the person who died Friday morning following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Garza County as Kimberly Meagan Craig, 37, of Post.

The deadly crash took place on U.S. Highway 84 at the intersection of FM 211 on Friday, April 22, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said Oswald Ramirez, 58, of Lubbock, was driving a pickup truck eastbound on FM 211 when he failed to yield the right of way to Craig’s SUV that was heading northbound on U.S. Highway 84.

As a result, the truck collided with the SUV. The speed limit along that section of the road was 75 miles per hour.

Ramirez sustained minor injuries and was also taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Conditions in the area were clear and dry. It was not immediately known if Craig and the girl were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
