Myretta Gowdy Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-40 in Amarillo

Myretta Gowdy Killed, Two Injured in Amarillo Three-Vehicle Crash on I-40 at Pullman Road

Amarillo, Texas (March 30, 2023) – One person was killed, and two others were injured on Wednesday in a wrong-way crash in Amarillo, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 9:20 a.m., March 29, on Interstate 40 at Pullman Road.

Police said Myretta Gowdy, 72, was driving an SUV westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate when he crashed head-on into a pickup truck.

The pickup was then struck by a semi, causing the pickup to roll over.

Gowdy was killed in the crash.

The pickup truck driver, a 53-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The semi-truck driver, a 42-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed I-40 for five hours.

The police are investigating the crash.
