Richard Valentine Seriously Injured in Silsbee Car Accident at FM 92 and Ben D. Smith Road

Hardin County, Texas (August 16, 2019) – The man who was critically injured Wednesday morning in a two-car accident at an intersection in Silsbee has been identified as Richard Valentine, 47, of Fred, according to authorities.

The major-injury crash took place at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, August 14 at the intersection of FM 92 and Ben D. Smith Road.

According to the DPS, a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Deborah Holden, 53, of Silsbee, was traveling northbound on FM 92 when the Corolla failed to yield the right of way and drove into the path of a 1994 Geo Tracker, which was being driven southbound on FM 92  by Valentine.

Valentine sustained major injuries and was airlifted to St. Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition.

Holden, who was not injured, received a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way-turning left.

No further details were immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
