Emma Carter and Betty Shaw Injured in Curtis Community Two-Vehicle Crash on County Road 114

Curtis Community, Texas (February 3, 2022) – Two people were injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in the Curtis Community, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash occurred just before 8:00 p.m., February 2, on County Road 114.

DPS said a 2006 Dodge SUV was traveling westbound when the driver slowed to make a turn onto CR 114, and a westbound 2006 Kia sedan changed from the outside lane to the inside lane when unsafe and rear-ended the SUV.

The SUV driver, Emma Carter, 63, and a passenger, Betty Shaw, 74, both of Jasper, were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Kia driver, Addison Causey, 20, of Newton, was uninjured in the crash and was cited for changing lanes when unsafe.

The crash remains under investigation.
