James Gillon Killed in Lubbock County Two-Vehicle Crash at US Highway 62 and County Road 3800

Lubbock County, Texas (October 24, 2023) – A man was killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Lubbock County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on October 22, at the intersection of US Highway 62 and County Road 3800.

DPS said Eliopoldo Cazares Nieves, 63, was driving a 2018 Peterbilt Module Truck westbound on US 62 when he turned left on CR 3800 and collided with a vehicle driven by James Franklin Gillon, 62, of Ralls.

Gillon was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Nieves was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The posted speed limit was 75 mph, and the conditions were dry and clear.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
