Mary Manriquez Estrada Killed in Midland Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 349 at Maverick Lane

Midland, Texas (January 8, 2023) – A woman was killed Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Midland, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 1:36 p.m., January 7, at the intersection of North Highway 349 and Maverick Lane.

Police said a Chevy Crossover was traveling northbound in the inside lane, and a Honda Civic was traveling northbound in the outside lane of the highway. A Ford F-250 was traveling westbound on Maverick Lane when it failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign while attempting to turn northbound into the outside lane of Highway 349.

Both the Chevy and the Honda then struck the Ford.

The Chevy driver, 76-year-old Mary Manriquez Estrada of Lamesa, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

The Ford driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
