21-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Southwest Freeway

Houston, Texas (March 24, 2023) – A 21-year-old man was killed on Monday in a hit-and-run accident in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 11:45 p.m., March 20, in the 9800 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59).

Police said two brothers had stopped in a strip center parking lot near a store and had exited their vehicle. According to the brother, his brother got upset due to the store being closed and threw a wooden pallet onto the service road and onto the main lanes of the freeway. The 21-year-old man then walked into the main lanes of the freeway and was struck by a white southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck. 

The man was killed in the crash. His name has not been released.

The Dodge driver fled the scene after the crash.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information on the identity of the wanted driver of the Dodge or, in this case, is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
