3 Injured After Police Chase Ends in Crash at Ohlen Road and Payton Gin Road in Austin

Three Hospitalized after Austin Crash at Ohlen Road and Payton Gin Road

Austin, Texas (July 30, 2023) – Three people were hospitalized after a short police pursuit ended in a crash Saturday night in an Austin intersection, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, DPS officers responded to calls for about 100 vehicles in the parking lot of the Target at 8610 Research Boulevard.

An officer responding saw the driver of a Mustang speeding without their headlights on. When the officer attempted to pull over the Mustang, the driver failed to stop.

The suspect led the officers to the intersection of Ohlen Road and Payton Gin Road, where the Mustang struck a Toyota.

The driver and passenger of the Toyota were transported to a hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the Mustang was also hospitalized.

No further details about the crash were immediately provided.

The accident remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
