54-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Crash on Eastex Freeway (U.S. Highway 59)

Houston, Texas (May 28, 2021) – According to the police, a 54-year-old man was fatally hit by a vehicle Monday night in Houston.

The deadly accident happened around 11:00 p.m., May 24, in the 8700 block of Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59).

Police said a black Jeep Wrangler was traveling southbound when the vehicle in front of it suddenly braked, and the Jeep driver swerved onto the right shoulder to avoid hitting it and struck the man who was walking across the freeway.

The man was taken to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The Jeep driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The police are investigating the crash.
