Amarillo, Texas (December 25, 2021) – According to the police, the fifth victim has died following a wrong-way crash that happened Wednesday night in Amarillo.

The fatal crash happened around 7:39 p.m., December 22, in the 500 block of West St. Francis.

Police said a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup was traveling the wrong way in the westbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a westbound Nissan Altima.

Four people in the Altima were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 46-year-old Angelica Colin, 88-year-old Raul Colin, 85-year-old Teresa Colin, and 35-year-old Raul Perez Colin.

The wrong-way driver, Larry Rolen, and another passenger in the Altima, 23-year-old Andrea Aguirre, were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries where Aguirre died on Friday, December 24.

Rolen was later arrested and was booked on four counts of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of intoxicated assault. The charges were filed before the fifth victim died, and additional charges are pending.

The Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
