Ashlyn Rhodes Killed and Kannin Williams Injured in West Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Westheimer Road

Houston, Texas (November 5, 2019) – A woman was killed and her brother was injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in West Houston, according to the police.

The collision occurred around 9:00 a.m. November 2, on Westheimer Road.

Police said 29-year-old Adokeo D. Akue was driving a Hyundai at 80 mph when he ran a red light and crashed into a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Ashlyn Rhodes, 21.

Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene. Her brother 18-year-old brother, Kannin Williams, was rushed to the hospital with a skull fraction and other internal injuries.

Akue was arrested and charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault- serious bodily injury.

Rhodes was a student at Stephen F. Austin University.

A GoFundMe account has been created to help the family with funeral and medical expenses.

The crash remains under investigation.
