Erick Alberto Moreno Rodriguez and Brayan Alvarez Morales Killed in Laredo Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 83

Laredo, Texas (March 2, 2022) – Two men were killed early Saturday morning in a DWI crash, about six miles south of Laredo, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:03 a.m., February 26, on U.S. 83.

DPS said a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway when it crashed head-on into a 2012 Ford Explorer.

The Volkswagen driver was taken to Laredo Medical Center with serious injuries. He showed signs of intoxication.

The Explorer driver, Erick Alberto Moreno Rodriguez, 46, and passenger, Brayan Alvarez Morales, 25, both from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger in the Explorer was taken to LMC with minor injuries.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
